Jack on to Jr. Semis - Kallfelz Sisters on to U23 2X Final

Rotterdam, The Netherlands/August 26: Jack Luby placed a strong third in Quarter Final #1, so his next race will be in one of two Semi-Finals for the (JM1X) Junior Men’s Single Sculls. The times were 1st Brazil, 7:28.760; 2nd Slovenia, 7:35.790; 3rd USA (Jack Luby, NBC), 7:40.260; 4th Poland, 7:44.860; 5th MDA, 7:46.580; 6th Luxembourg, 8:21.340. [“MDA” is a mystery republic only known to FISA.] Congratulations to Jack and his coach Peter Wilhelm! Jack now needs to be in the top three for the semi-final to qualify for the final. All races are 2000 meters.

Later this morning, Emily and Eliza Kallfelz will race in the U23 Final of the Women’s Double Sculls. For a preview of tomorrow’s races, click here. Sisters Emily and Eliza Kallfelz (Jamestown, R.I.) finished second in their semifinal of the women’s double sculls to earn a spot in the final. They will take on crews from Belarus, Great Britain, Romania, Germany and Denmark. Great Britain won the first semifinal with the top qualifying time, while Belarus held off the U.S. to win the second semifinal.
