America's Oldest Rowing Club

Overview

Narragansett Boat Club is located in Providence on the Seekonk River. We offer classes for all ages (13 and older) and abilities, open rowing, a competitive program, and several regattas throughout the year. Members have full access to club equipment including boats of all sizes, oars, and indoor rowing machines. You can find out more about us by following the links below and exploring the website.

LEARN-TO-ROW PROGRAM

NBC offers classes for both adults and youth. No rowing experience necessary – but if you do have experience, there are options for you too.

Adult classes are offered in the mornings and evenings April through October. Youth classes are offered after school during the school year, and half-day during the summer.

We hold an Open House periodically during the season, so you can see the boathouse and try out rowing for free.

MEMBERSHIP

Club members receive discounts on classes, and may use all club equipment including boats (for which they are rated), oars, and indoor rowing machines.

COMPETITIVE ROWING

NBC’s competitive rowing program is open to all members who want to train at a high level. No formal coaching is provided, though this can be arranged with NBC coaches on an ad hoc basis. Group workouts on the water take place weekday mornings at 5:30 am and weekends at 6:30 am.

REGATTAS

NBC usually holds three regional regattas each year, as well as a series of intramural regattas for class participants and club members.
